There used to be several members of this forum with Odysseys. The forum became increasingly biased toward them driving the members away. Putting them in with the kid's quads pretty much was the end of it.

There is a pretty decent and consistant turnout at the Spring Valley track in Kensington, OH. The next race is two weeks from last Sunday.

What tires are you running? The stock rears usually have enough floatation to keep it up on top. They don't have as much traction as paddles, so they can dig holes when climbing. 20" paddles are commonly available, but do not have enough floatation. 24s are a bit hard to turn but give really good floatation. 22" are a good compromise. The Kenda Dune Runners are available in 22", but heavy and stiff. They pretty much dig holes. The best tire I have used is a 22x11x10 Skat-Trak Edge 8 paddle. I also have a pair of 25x12x9 Haulers. I have never gotten stuck with them, but they are only good for going in a straight line. Both sets were expensive and the paddles can rip off easier. I want to try a set of the new ITP sand tires. They are available in a 22". I have had them on back order for quite a while though.

The V-paddles turn much better. They make more of a difference because you cannot throw the rear end with your body like you can on a quad.

I would have swore we used to have a section here on the connection about Odyssey's and Pilot's.

Anyways, I nearly flipped my brother in laws odyssey back in or about 1978, It was a fun ride though.

I have a homemade Odessy-like buggy. I LOVE it, its a blast. It'll go anywhere, climbs stuff like crazy and is decently fast. Its a 300ex powered buggy, 5 speeds with reverse. I hardly ride my LTZ anymore.

I mean no disrespect to you lucky BST&%D$ that were able to get your hands on a pilot... but check these out http://www.git.com.au/~theedge/ from our friends down under... you can get these here for less than a pilot...

I have a '79 Odyssey FL250 with a 340cc Kohler 2 stroke motor on it. I also welded a full role cage on it because I didn't trust the partial cages they put on them in the '70's models. It is pretty fast but is geared to be more of a torque monster, it climbs real well.

I also have a homebuilt Odyssey-like mini buggy that has a liquid cooled Kioritz 440 snowmobile engine in it. This one is geared for speed and it's scary fast!

I own an 89' Pilot... Take it to the dunes all the time. But its a real bugger to get it "unstuck"!

I'm running 10 paddle Haulers. I figure the pilot is to heavy to really benifit the advantages of a bent-paddle. We only got it stuck twice.

Pilot owners? There's one right here! I love my Pilot! I just wish Honda would get up off of their behinds and manufacture a new line of Pilots using current technological advancements. After all, the last Pilot was manufactured 13 years ago!!! In my opinion, they would do very well in the sales department if they stressed the safety aspect of these fine machines. I have three children and I would much rather have them in an ATV with a roll cage versus an ATV without one. I'm not knocking quads, just stating my personal point-of-view.

By the way, I also have a fully restored 1982 Odyssey FL250, but the Pilot is a MUCH better animal!

OO yea lets bring the Pilots back to life too!!

We're still keepin' 'em alive here:

Pilot-Odyssey PitStop

Just visit the forum section of the website.

If you need to find anything out about this rare breed of machine, you'll probably find it there!

By the way, PILOTS RULE!!!

I have 2 1985 FL 350s, they are both stock except for the reeds and air filters, both run perfect and are a total blast to ride, I love them. I have had 5 of these over the years, Im still pretty much in arrested development for a 42 yr old. I have a suzuki lt 50 and and LT 160, a yamaha breeze and Wolverine, a kawasaki bayou ( 4X4) whoops I forgot the LT 80, and then the 2 odysseys. Im going to be selling some of these and buying that new Yamaha Rhino, I have all those quads for friends to use ( the wolverine is mine) at my home but no one really is using them, only my kids use them much. so Im going to indulge myself with the rhino

The racers have mostly faded away since the series/money dried up, but my machine is still kick ass just playing around.
