For a brief and shining moment, Max6X6 posted information sharing his experiences riding his ATV with the Forum readership.
Other readers appreciated and enjoyed Max6X6's posts and pictures, encouraging him by telling him so.
However, the topic has reverted to an uncomfortably familiar theme, "Max is bestest! Superior to all!", along with the corollary, Max6X6 himself possesses superior intellect and wisdom for choosing a Max, in contrast to all us ignorant and mentally-deficient losers who stupidly chose other machines. Or do I misunderstand the thrust of Max6x6's posts?
I've wondered before without coherent response: What is Max6X6's purpose in flaunting his arrogance? What goals does he expect to achieve? What does he perceive as the effect of his bashing all other machines and their riders? What needs does Max6X6 satisfy by his outrageous performance claims, e.g., a Max can pass through a space narrower than its width?
If Max6x6 genuinely believes his claims himself, a serious problem may exist; on the other hand, perhaps Max6X6 merely enjoys provoking outrage, hoping to obtain attention from topic deletion or closure. If he expects to convert other ATV owners to Max customers by his technique (bashing them), I'd say a serious problem definitely exists.
I'm reminded of a song from the Broadway musical, "Annie, Get Your Gun!" Goes something like this,
"Anything you can do, I can do better; I can do anything better than you! No you can't! Yes I can! No you can't! Yes I can! Yes I can yes I can yes I can yes I can!"
By the way, "Annie, Get Your Gun!" is a comedy.

How in tha world could a 15 HP motor pull a cruise ship through rough water???
And how big a cruise ship r ya talkin about

You may think that is funny, but apparently CruiseShips International, based out of Alaska and Iceland, do not. They have employed 10 of these Argo Conquests, with IBB's (Ice-Berg Breaker (patented)) Not only do they move 100 ton icebergs either out of the way, they actually can break them up! As you can also see in the photo, this particular model has an optional outboard motor for hooking up to your everyday CruiseShip and actually pulling it through troubled waters!!! Simply amazing to say the least!
Have a berry Merry Christmas

OH boy, a popularity contest! Give me a break, we all know MAX is still in school, so of course he is going to want to be popular and stand out. Look, he loves his MAX, and while I believe his an extreme view to say the least, it is his view nonetheless.
If we dont agree with what he says, dont answer then get upset at his response. He has for the most part started all of the posts in the ARGO, oddessy, etc... page, so if he wants to talk, let him. Now on the other hand, if you just want to talk some trash, well hey, we are all fair game!!!
Have az great weekend,

Max, you are doing a lot better in this thread than in all the others you've been in so far. It is a lot easier to talk to you if you don't bash. If you tell experiences you've had, places you rode at or in, or whatever, it makes you a lot better of a person. Believe me, you will be a lot more popular if people LIKE talking to you instead of only talk to you when you piss them off.

I could see where the plow could be useful, you did all see the movie "Titanic" didn't you! Hehe. Maybe it is to clear the seaweed in the summertime also!?

Max, you said the Max is best at everything except for speed. Ever ride a wheelie with your Max? And if you would manage to get the front end up (by going in reverse and then forward quickly), there's no way you would be able to hold it in a wheelie and you wouldn't be able to balance it. Can you get it to 2 wheel around turns? Ever powerslide around a turn? Ever jump a mud hole? Ever roost a friend with mud? Ever race cars along side a highway? (Maybe you have but you sure didn't beat any.) Ever ride between 2 trees 48" apart? I also find it hard to believe that you can get through much mud with not much ground clearance and only 22" tires. This will really show when riding in the woods, where you have ruts, tree stumps, sticks, and all kinds of other crap in your way. Ever use only your front brakes when backing down a steep hill? Maybe a Max is a good thing for a teenager, it will teach them not to go fast when driving an automobile!
Posted by: rooster
Xplorer, the reason why we ask this stuff is because Max seems to think Max ATV's are the best at EVERY OFF ROAD TERRAIN. Don't you have anything to say about this?
Posted by: rooster
That is a Max with tracks, and the snow is just over his waist. I don't know what the Max would do without tracks, but I'm sure it would not go where the one with tracks goes.

Aww look you done pissed 'em off. Oh well, it is easy to start a new thread and I'm not here to please any one. However, I do find it much more entertaining and civil if we do the following:
I would most like to hear some good off road adventures from either 4x4ers or 6x6ers. I will post my stories and pictures as I have in the past. I might be doing some 6x6ing this weekend with Argoman. He claims he has terrain that I can't conquer so this should be good.
It is about 7 degrees out side so the snow can't be far off. The lake already has a thin layer of ice and I can't wait until it gets frozen good. Gotta get out there and spin like hell.

Good Ryda now maybe we can all get along and have a good time. Probably not, but let's give it a try. Here is a good pic:
This is after our first six wheeling ride. You can see Argoman on the left who has mud up to his knees. He did not believe me that the mud would be over his knees so he had to find out the hard way. He jumped into it out of his Argo and sunk up to his knees. He quickly pulled himself back into the Argo. The middle of the mud pit would have been even deeper!

6x6 Ice Breaking!
The lakes has about 1-1/2 inches of ice on it. I was driving through breaking it to pieces and seeing how good the Max does with a frozen lake. I went back to my mud pit which was completely frozen. I was able to drive on top and spin like mad. It started break after a little while and then it was 6x6 mud slingin'! It was an experience like no other!!!!
The one on the left is Argoman, center is his friend, and on the right is me. We are all Rednecks. Both of our ATVs are covered in mud pretty heavy. The picture is not very high quality and you can't see the mud very well. We both had lots of mud in our hair from 6x6 mud slingin'!
Just can't get enough of this 6x6.
MaxRules
Posted by: Max6x6
Yes it is very good for ice fishing. I will be using it later this winter just for that. It has less chance of breaking through the ice than a person, 4x4, or snowmobile because it has only about one pound per square inch of pressure on the ground. More importantly, if the ice does break the Max will float so at least you don't get dead.
MaxRules
Posted by: Max6x6
I went back for some more ice breaking today. This time I was able to drive on top of the ice two times. It cracks and pops but the Max managed to stay on top. The ice is very thin and would not hold a person. Since a person puts about 8 times more pressure on the ice than a Max does, you can drive where you can't walk!
After I had all the ice broken around the edges of the lake I decided to travel down to the creek. Some of the creek water was frozen but other parts weren't. I got to an area where I had to cross the creek which was about 50 feet wide. I knew I shouldn't but of course that doesn't matter so I went for it. I was about 3/4 of the way across when I started to go faster because with the ice breaking I thought I better hurry up. One second later SPLASH! The ice had broke and Max fell in. It floated very fast even with the fall. The water was about 10 feet deep and 20 degrees... I'm glad I wasn't the one swimming. I think it is best to go slow on thin ice, it seems to break much easier with speed and I think that is why I fell through. I was now about 15 feet from shore. I rocked the machine forward and backward to break the ice in front of me and the Max swam out. I looked back and took a picture of the terrain I just tamed. I went down to another area of the creek that was frozen better. I was able to drive on the ice for a long time. There was some rocks sticking through the ice which made for a non frozen part of the creek. I drove over many of those and even with a small area of the ice already broken I didn't fall through. The Max turned very good while on ice. A few times I really got it reved up and was spinning all over. Anyone want to come swim with me? haha

Here are some inside pics of my Max.
Controls (left to right) - choke, ignition/lights, heated throttle cable. You can see the amp meter near the center of the dash. The throttle is on the right stick and the five gallon fuel tank is under the dash. You can easily see through it and see if you will make it home or not. hehe
Here is a pic with the top up. This makes it really easy access all parts for maintenance. Of course there is the engine and about half the transmission is veiwable behind the engine.
MaxRules
Posted by: Max6x6
Power goes from the engine to the trasmission through a belt drive just like a snowmobile. Chains connect the transmission to all of the axles. When both sticks are forward all six wheels drive no matter what the pressure differences are. The left and ride sides of the transmission operate separate so it does not matter to the right side what the left side is doing and vise versa. Turning and control can be done in several different ways. You can pull back one stick just a a little bit and drive one side slower than the other so you still have six wheel drive and turn slowly. Pull one about half way back to put that side in neutral and make a smooth wider turn like you would do with a 4-wheeler. The harder you pull back on the stick the sharper you will turn. Pull it all the way back and you will lock that side so it skids and you can turn in your own radius. Pull back both sticks to apply the brakes to stop, the harder you pull the harder the brakes are applied. The primary brakes you will use to stop and turn are bands inside the transmission and have been known to last over 25 years. The auxilary parking brake is applied by pushing the pedal on the left side of the vehicle. These are two disc brakes on the front axles. Hope that describes it good enough.

Posted by: Max6x6
My site is www.homestead.com/maxatvs and be sure to sign my guestbook. When you pull back a stick it slowly disenguages it until it is in neutral then begins to apply the brakes. You can stop, go, and turn without moving the throttle.

Max is designed for off road terrain and to take you anywhere you want to go. Max is best at everything except speed because speed is not required for off road. The average off road speed in any kind of real terrain would be about 10-15mph.
I never did actually bash anyone's quad. It seems to me that if someone was looking at a SP500 or Grizzly (any utility 4x4) for utility work in muddy, snowy, or watery conditions that it would be more logical to get a Max because that is what it does best. One time last summer when my mud hole was 24" inches deep with no water on top I ran strait through the middle. I got to the other side and looked back and saw deep ruts and the sculpture of the lower body from it dragging across. My wheels reached about 12" down into the mud while the mud was 24" deep and I still made it across. You can't tell me that any quad could do something like that. Nothing muds like the Max.
Muddin' is what I love, and I think I have the right vehicle for it.

Rooster, I have done EVERYTHING you have listed.
1. I have rode a wheelie. Even my friend's Bigfoot with the engine in the front has done it. The 25hp Max IV does it quite easily.
2. Instead of two wheeling around a corner I three wheel. Yes, I have done it several times and it is easy to do.
3. You haven't seen a powerslide until you ride a Max. Go 30mph and lock one side... you're in for a ride.
4. Yes I have jumped my mud hole four times now.
5. Roosting a friend with mud for sure. Just ask Argoman.
6. I have raced cars along a highway. I beat them by going 1mph because they were stopped.
7. I have gone between trees 48" apart and so has the Argo, even though it is 60" wide.
8. Max does not need ground clearance like a quad does. If you had experience riding a Max, you would know that.
I said the Max is best at all off road terrain. Only ONE of those things, #7, is actually off road. I don't find two trees much of an obsticle. Max is designed to go anywhere, and it does.

My friend and I went for a five hour Max ride today. I just ordered a roll bar for my Max. We really needed it today but unfortunately I haven't got it yet. I took the wrong approach to climbing over two big logs and stood it strait up. My friend bailed out backwards and when I knew it was going to roll I let go of the sticks and bailed. I landed right behind it and used my "action roll" to get out of the way fast. It was balanced in a perfect 90 degree upright position. I looked up and my friend was already up and running toward my Max. It was slowing beginning to tilt backwards. It was leaning back and we caught it before it rolled. Whew...
It continued running the whole time even though the engine was tilted 90 degrees. When I backed it up it was smoking like a 2-stroke from oil draining into the cylinders. It burnt out in a few seconds and we were gone again!
That was just the beginning...

First off RANGERSX, I'm not ripping on you what so ever, you've done nothing to be ripped on for,you had a comment which your entitled to,however this particular conversation is very rare because for once stories and experiances are being exchanged and not the usual atv comparisons that are always quick to spark bashing or unreasonable comparisons between two very unlike machines both which serve two diffent puposes and have differnt qualitys that perhaps the other does not posess(at least in the opinion of the owners arguing)so all I ask is to let this topic continue on as awesome as it has been because for once it is like old times when you could read ones post and visulise the experiance and get pumped up for your next ride.Perhaps Maxx is trying to be more pleasing and imformative if this is true don't bash of bring up topics of the past that only lead to arguementive comparisons.Anyway who am I to direct the direction of the forum,we'll I'm a nobody and have no say what so ever ,however I feel if you have a beef with a certain person start your own post and leave the clean informative ones alone.Ranger don't take this personal by all means ,I do know frustration just read page 3 of the original post, however some must change there ways including myself and perhaps this is the post I shall start.

Maxx,What's the diffrence in the Maxx and Argo? I know Argo also has a 8x8 along with it's 6x6's but is there any solid diffrence enough to matter between the two brands?
Posted by: xplorer
Why do you guy's insist on turning a good conversation into this sh*t talk.Who the hell cares about powersliding my nephew does all day long on his 5hp go cart and as for wheelies cant remember the last time my xplorer 250 or my AC 300 did one from a stand still position.I really did'nt spend $10,000 dollars on two quads for the experiance in powerslides and wheelies those can be done on my banshee and my freakin mountain bike for christ sake!Give it up guys I'm beginning to see why maxx has a cocky response to everyone it because everyone usually instigates it.This forum has been going pretty damn good until you all started back on the usual sh*t talk.My polaris is for exploring my Arctic Cat is for exploring and I'm sure Maxx's ride was purchase for the same damn reason.Nobody who owns the types of machines care about powerslides ,roosts, wheelies. You guys complain about maxx's usless responses for the last year and so he finnaly respondes with stories and experiances and you people just have to bring up ypur bullsh*t questions knowing it's going to start an arguement.Grow the @#$%^% up!!!
Posted by: xplorer
Ok let me get this straight your going to keep responding negative until he quits bragging.Well I don't know how old you are and I definatly don't care,However that sounds exacly like my damn nieces and nephews.Give me a break YES YOU ARE THE instigator. WHY? 1.becuase your visiting a maxx, odessy, pilot, forum.which I doubt seriosly you own one unless you are the type to lie just to be right. Therefore you apparently like coming into forums that don't pertain to you and argue with the material being discussed,THAT IS F**KING CHILDISH.I'd expect better from a elementry student. So if you really don't like what he say's stick to the quad forums.I don't care if you rip him up and down in those other forums if he deserves it ,all I"m saying is let a good discussion go good for once god it's really not that freakin hard!!!
Posted by: xplorer
Perhaps you are correct,It makes since that the width of the tracks would allow even more weight per square foot to be distributed. But we can't hold these tracks as the only way a maxx or argo would be better than a quad or snowmobile,it is still lighter per square foot than a quad, and is 4 wheels of a polaris driving better than 3wheels driving on my Arctic Cat,so to is 6wheels of a Maxx driving more effective than 4 or 3 of us quads,in snow and mud it's all about weight and traction. The tracks of the maxx is only a add on to perform better just a vampires or bi claws for our rides and the should not be held against one for comparisons if I could afford those tracks for my quad I'd have them too!

Max-drive question- From your engine to your wheels, what is the connection? Does a shaft drive everything and what connects each set of wheels? Does that make sense? Do each of the axles have its own differential or what? If one wheel on one side or all the wheels on one side has less traction than the others, what does it do?
Posted by: TxDoc2
That makes sense. I have not looked at your webpage, but intend to. I meant to ask you this, also. When you say you push the control sticks forward you move forward. And if you pull back a little the wheels slow down a little. That is just your control over how much "engagement" you get of the wheels? But, not how fast they turn? You have a separate throttle for that, right? If you are using, say 1/2 throttle, how much difference in speed is there between pushing the control sticks forward just a little, half way and all the way (without touching the throttle)?

Hey Max, I believe Rooster was talking about a real powerslide, not a wannabe powerslide. This means going around a flat corner and spinning the tires to bring the back end around. As for the roosting with mud, you can't cover the guy behind you while sitting in one place. This means holding the front brakes and letting the back tires do the covering! Racing parked cars, sounds like fun. My grandma in a wheelchair took up that sport a long time ago! As for #8, if you get hung up and all 6 of your tires are off the ground, where are you gonna go? You also said that only #7 is offroad terrain. So what is the mud that you're in doing your imitation roosts called? Answer with true statements this time.

A 4x4 will take bigger drifts than you think, I went through 24" banks on my EX, speed and a light front end when you hit. How easy is it to get that bathtub unstuck when the tires dig holes in the snow and it's resting on its belly, I bet when it's getting dark and you you have it hopelessly stuck you will realize that some times more is not allways better. If you go through a lot of snow and get it stuck you will have one hell of a mess.
