I had a few guys last year wanting a pic of this thing. Took me this ong to find it.........LOL
Some of you guys who have been in the sport a long time may remember this quad.
The engine is from a 1986-1987 AT200X three wheeler. It makes about 15HP. 6 speed manual transmission and kick start.
Very odd front nose piece.
This was taken at the 1992 Honda dealer show. It never made it to the production line in 1993 even though they let on that it was a done deal to appear in the lineup!!
Anyway.........thought I would share.
Just go to my photo page for a pic.

Yeah. It would have made a great starter quad and would have been great competition to the Blaster.
Years ago, the AMA rules in the 200 Air Cooled class in MX allowed for the 200X engine to be placed in a 4 wheeler frame. A guy [forgot his name] won alot of races in the early '90s on that thing and nearly took the championship that year.
I can see the new 250EX being a bit more desirable for the average beginner with the electric start and reverse gear without a clutch........but personally.......I think a TRX200X..........in today's market would gather more brand recognition to the market than the 250EX is currently.
My .02

Why would they show up at a dealer show with a frame that looks like an ATC with an add on front end kit? the frame just don't look right to me. Might be part of the reason it never made it to production.

Is that really a prototype or the last of the mexican 200x quads that were made from 1987 to the early ninties. Rumor has it they took all the 200x that were already made and sent them to foriegn countries to have a 250x front end grafted on. There is a pic on I believe three wheeler worlds web site. They were cool. I guess honda didnt want anyone to know they had a cobbled together 3wheeler conversion. To bad the 350x didnt get the same fate. All the in country ones were cut in half and the engines crated up and have been floating around ever since. It would been been the 400ex that we were denied for those boring 90's

I saw the one on 3 wheeler world two years ago, but I knew the pic of the one from the trade show looked different from that one.
That's why I wanted to find my pic so bad...........just for verification.
I have only seen two pics of the Mexican version. It may be the same quad..........but the plastic designs are very different.
I've got tons of interesting stuff like this around that I've gathered from the last 15 years. It's just a matter of finding it all......LOL
