How do you adjust the valves on a 300ex? I need as much info as possible as mine gets real hot real quick. I am led to belive this is probably a valve problem and they need adjusted but I havent a clue how to do this. Thanks

Get a honda manual, they run about $40. It'll show you how to do everything and I mean everything on your bike. These manuals are worth the money you pay for them. You can recoup the cost by doing your valves one time instead of paying a shop labor charge.

Where do you get them?

Are you talking about the owners manual tht comes with the bike or something else? Cuase I know that the owners manual doesnt show how to change clutch plates, it says take it to a honda dealer to have it done.

rhino99,
He's talking about a shop manual. Order one from your Honda dealer or one of the ads in an atv mag. You can order a Clymer manual here on the ATVConnection Magazine page.

I don't know that one is better than the other. Some factory shop manuals seem to think you already are familiar with a subject and are less specific about the basics. Each may have different photos of the same topic, making it easier to understand. If you have a friend with a manual, you could get the other one & then refer to both if you don't understand one.

I recommend the Clymer manuals unless your are a very good wrencher/mechanic.The clymer gives more detail and step by step instructions so even novice wrenchers can do a good job.The factory manuals are more for mechanics and less detailed, more of a schematics, specs reference book than a how to one.As for your engine running hot,how so?Is your pipe red?If so,I would say you are running to lean on air/fuel ratio. What mods have you done?what is weather and elevation?riding conditions

Get the Honda Service Manual and do it by the book. I have used mine for several repairs and they are spot on. As for your quad running hot, if the valves were mis-adjusted then the motor would either have a ticking noise from too much clearance or would not run evenly from too little clearance. If you have changed the air filter or the exhaust system, then you are probably running the motor too lean, more air than gas, which will cause it to run hotter. Post us a note so we know what you've done to it.
