Andy,

I realy forgot but almost positive it was 52 mph stock. It was 58 mph with pipe, filter, jet kit, and 13T counter sprocket.

The HP is 13.9 stock same as the blaster. The 300EX is 13.7 hp and the 250EX is 11.2 if I remember rite. 11. something I know think it was 11.2.

The blaster is like 55 mph top speed and the mojave is like 55 mph also. The 300EX is 53 if I remember rite and can't remember what the 250EX was.

I know this is alot more than you asked for but thought I'd jot it down before a bunch of poeple started running in and starting the blaster is 70 mph and the lakotas 60 and all that. These are if not exact figures they are very very close.

Yea i have to go with gaff there, the Lakota has a good top speed(I KNOW CUASE I OWN ONE).And if your comparing it with the 250ex well why dont you look at the MARCH 2002 Dirtwheels mag.It had a SHOOTOUT:Honda 250ex-vs-Kawasaki Lakota Sport 300,the Lakota stumped the 250ex.In the conclusion they said "THE OVERALL WINNER IN OUR ENTRY-LEVEL SPORT ATV COMPARISON IS THE KAWASAKI LAKOTA.IT IS SPORTIER HANDLING,FASTER,AND HAS MORE AND BETTER SUSPENSION TRAVEL THAN THE 250ex.

ATV Action had a few issues with the lakota in it as well last winter. Last winter all the mags where just doing the entry level quads, thats where I got all that info from, except the lakota's top speed, I got that from a GPS and riding mine. The mags had just about the same thing.

If you go to atv connection's home page and search lakota in the top right search box they have a 5 part article on it with some good data.

The lakota is the most underated quad in my opinion. It's realy a graet quad and I would not only suggest it as a good quality purchase I would buy one again. Well I kinda did when I got a bayou 250, darn close to the same thing.

personally, i dont think that the lakota has a fast enough speed. i am always topping it out. that is why i am moving up to the kfx. not only am i wanting the speed, i l;ike the lower center of gravity so it is just about the same dimensions, but better handling. if i just wanted it to go faster than i would just mod it. but thats not the point

I think it needs a sixth gear..it feels like u need to shift again in fifth at a little more than half throttle!

put the 13T counter sprocket on, it will make the 5th gear pull.
