Went to Silver Lake sand dunes over the weekend (GREAT WEATHER) (ALSO SOUND CHECKS were RANDOM)
They do not check anyone in the morning when there is a line, Just for spark arresters
THEY NEVER CHECKED either of my bikes for noise. You must be spark arrested or you do not get in.

My 400 was not running all that great at the dunes. I rode it on the trail the past weekend and it ran good. It seemed to have NO POWER untill 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. Secondly when it got HOT the high end power seems to drop off to where It had nothing but bog. If I let it cool It would be ok for a little while again until it heated up.

I did 3 changes before going to the dunes.
Before we went I wraped my pipe with Header Wrap to help it hold in heat (ALSO DROP the HEAT ON MY LEG)
I also added HPD Roller secondary 40/36, Violet spring in 3 and 3 position, 13lbs by the instruction sheet.
I also drained my oil tank of the Polaris oil and filled it with AMS OIL SYNTHETIC 2 STROKE RACING OIL approved for oil injection or 50:1 mix.
Oh and I got Paddles 20/11/10 sand skate 2s.

I have a HOT SEAT GEN 2 pipe. (.260 Main Jet)
HPD Aggresive clutch kit (RED w,YELLOW stripe main Spring) with 40/36 Roller secondary shift drum w Violet rear spring.
RCR AIR BOX MOD and K&N filter.
I checked my plug and it is black (Last weekend it was Pefectly brown)
It was a little warmer outside this weekend but not extream changes.
I guess I am running rich, but I can not belive the power loss, I did not have a chance to Jet down.
It did get cooler, A bit cold acctually, at night but still the bike did not feel correct. Seem to have same problems
Will the Pipe Wrap cause me to JET DOWN alone and cause it to be way rich??????????
What Have I Done ?

What is the legal db there, 98? Would a FMF turbine core 2 pass? I'm thinking it wouldn't. Anyone ever try dbing it?

Yes I would think a FMF turbine core 2 on a Scrambler would be fine
the limit is 94 +/- 4 I believe.
Like I said they are not testing for noise very much.

Thanks bubascrambler, a year or two ago there was an article in one of my quad mags about sound checks and a cheap swr meter you could buy from radio shack. I'm going to see if i can find that mag and do some testing.

Bubba,
Try moving your needle clip to position #4. Your main may need to come down to a 250.

I will try moving the needle. I was 240 and I added Pipe and opened up the Air box. I thought the 260 would be right on, Is was on the trail the following past weekend.
But I just don't understand why it is getting hot and losing power. Just does not seem right.
I thought wraping the pipe could only help but ????????????????????????????
I don't see how switching to AMS oil could harm anything???????????????????
I also thought the roller clutch drum would only help??????????????????????
