wondering if anyone has checked into this attachment or bought it, and if so what was the best price you could get? seems like a awsome setup, but is a bit pricey. you could by the biggest walk behind snowblower for less than a third od it's cost. does anyone have a used one they just don't use and want to part ways with it?

 

A riding snowblower is far better than a walk behind. But the cost for the ATV snowblower is steep, $3K. I use an old Gravely tractor with a snowblower. They are all gear drive, no rubber belts anywhere.

I prefer a blower to a plow any day. If you truly need a riding snow thrower look into a nice garden tractor with an attachment. The Polaris set up is nice but it looks like it was thrown together out of a spare parts bin. The engine is in the rear mounted on the hitch if I remember right. And the length of the belt is enormous. For 3K you could get a used plow truck or two monster walk behind throwers and your wife could help.

The rear mount engine helps to balance the weight front to rear and takes 250 pounds off the manual lift. Its also shaft drive from the engine to the two stage blower up front not belt. There is a small belt from the engine to the shaft drive.

You also need a rear suspension lock($100)for the IRS and a snow blade attachment/lift kit($???). Even with the high price it would be great setup. True 4x4 and a 48" blower would make quick work of most driveways. Add an atv cab and it would almost be fun. I have a 46" blower($1200) on my 20hp lawn tractor($1900)now. Even with chains and a 175 pound wieght on the back it can be a pain in the butt in deep wet snow. Its been winched many times by the HO due to getting stuck when A tire slips off the driveway.

 

You would be better of buying new snowblower for a tractor for 3000. Plus you can blow a eight foot wide swath. Instead of paying that much for a four foot wide snowblower. That only has the power of a little briggs and straton. Or you could buy a used tractor with a used snowblower in very good condition for that much. It seem's for the quality of blower you would get a better deal on a tractor mount snowblower.

 

Where can I find a picture of the Polaris snow blower attachment?

I have an Allis-Chalmer (Same as Simplicity) lawn tractor with a 42" snowblower attachment, wheel weights, etc. The blower attachment has been a real God-send for cleaning out snow at my place. We have a very long and circular blacktop drive. There is no good way to "plow" snow out. The blower is the only answer. Since the tractor and blower are getting up in age, it may be time to consider replacing both. Hence my interest in seeing the ATV snow plow attachment.

Can you steer me to a site with a picture of one?
