Homemade trail maker/brush cutter (pull behind)

Anybody have any ideas on how to make a homemade brush-cutter/or someways to make trails in heavy weedy dense areas? Please help!!!!

Mt 1st thought is to get a used worn out lawn mower. The other thought is to get a mower deck and install wheels on its corners, And a verticle engine with a pulley powering the blades. Put a toung on the front and go.
