Default 90 polaris, 90 eton NO POWER

Looking for a little help with these two quads, They both idle but will not move. If you hold the throttle wide open it takes off every once and a while? (polaris) I have changed the plugs, cleaned the carbs, changed the fuel and filter, replaced the air filter. I even removed the fly wheel and cleaned the stator. Both of these quads worked great until we introduced them to heavy water and mud. Any ideas? Both of these quads are the 2 stroke models. Thanks

That's a pretty sketchy description and tough to tell where to start. When you say you hold it WOT and sometimes it takes off are you saying it revs but won't move or you can't get it to rev up? Those 2 problems take very different diagnostic paths. Give a little more info and I'm sure you will get some help.

I have cleaned both jets and cleaned the carb very well, i think. Both units do start and idle. When you hold the throttle wide open on the polaris it will jug and bog but not produce any rpms, every once and a while it takes off producing rpms and drives like nothing was ever wrong. After you let off the throttle, back to square one? Sometimes you can hold the throttle for a long time and nothing, just idle?

Could be an electrical problem..Our eton had similar symptoms when the wires on the coil were not fitting tightly..

My son's Polaris 90 is rev limiting, another words it idles fine but the rev limit kicks in when the accelerator is pushed. For safety reasons it is designed to do that while in reverse. Had the same problem last year and found the problem was a faulty ETC switch in the throttle assembly; I bypassed that as the only way to replace it was to order a whole new assembly ($90). I have my current problem narrowed down to a faulty CDI box. I have ordered an aftermarket one from Maximum RPM and I hope it solves the problem.
