500 Scrambler Won't Start?
So my wife's 2007 500 Scambler 4x4 hasn't been run in a few months. Was fine when it was parked. Never abused, never seen water or mud (very dry here).
Fast forward to yesterdy, it's a nice 5* with snow here in MT. I go to start it up, and the solenoid just makes a terrible buzzing noise.
I pulled the battery, made sure it was charged, reinstalled and same thing.
So I took a jumper wire, and put it across the solenoid leads. Now it just makes a very weak buzzing noise. What gives?
My local dealer has a solenoid for $54, but I can't afford to throw expensive parts at this thing, esp before the holiday spending season.
Any ideas appreciated.

I'll see if I can find a meter to put on it. My battery charger states "charged" for whatever that's worth....
****************edit**************** Put a meter on it and it says 13.5 volts.
Checked my lawnmower battery for comparison: 15 volts, and my 400 Scrammy's battery measured 14.5 volts.

I have the same problem with my 400. I replaced the starter thinking that was it but nope. Even though my battery says its fully charged I dont believe it has enough amps to turn the starter. Anyways I would say its the battery for mine and yours, Im too cheap to buy a new one right now so Im just pull starting.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I took the battery to the place where I bought it last year, they checked it and charged it up. They said it was fine.
It' has snowed so much here that I've been too busy shoveling, running snow blowers and blading roads. I buried my 350hp Hemi Ram with 35" tires not once, but TWICE!
I tried to rope start it, but it would not start. I may have a combination of issues here. I'll look into it again in a few days.
My old beat-up 1999 400 2-stroke Scrambler 4x4 fired right up after not being started in 2 years! Great machine, even outruns the 500....
