Default Charging new battery

I just bought a new Yuasa battery for my sons Polaris Sportsman 90. I added the acid and put it in the quad. I turned over great and started right up. Do I need to charge the battery right away after adding the acid? If so, for how long?

the box the battery comes in should have a chart in there to give you the times. the last time i bought a battery, it told me about 4 hrs. i haven't looked back since on my batteries. hope this helps!

you may check with the dealer you bought it from unless you find the paperwork. i'm thinking you may not want to go more than 2 amps while charging for 4 hrs.

If your charger goes as low as 2 amps that would be best, if you don't have any way of telling the volts or a charger with automatic shut off be careful not to boil off acid. Full charge should be around 12.8 volts after it sits for an hour after charging.

you should have let your battery set about 30 minutes after adding the acid to soak into the plates then charge it for say 8 hours on a slow charge like around 2 amps for the best life of the battery. imo
