It depends on what style of clamp you have.
I just did my cv boots and used a flathead scewdrive to remove the stock polaris ones.
I bought a "Band-It" banding tool for $10 from american CV. Worked pretty slick and came with a couple of bands.

After using it I think I could have gotten by with a pair of needle nose pliers or vise grips.

Also I don't know what kind of boots you are using but after seeing the aftermarket boots it is all I will use.....the Polaris ones are pretty poor compared to them.

Aftermarket ones are made of a thicker, tougher rubber....you can tell right away they are MUCH tougher.
