Default 83" ATC 200E Front fork

Does anyone know if an '83 Honda ATC 200E Big Red front fork is the same as an '84 Honda ATC 200ES Big Red front fork? Mine is bent from a collison with our ATV and was just wondering if these forks are compatible?

Should be... I have similar issue and I just put the forks from an 84 on my 82. The 200x wont fit but the big reds are pretty compatible. I had the forks from an 82 185 on my 200 for a few days until I found the other forks to put on it. I put the solid forks from the 185 on for a temp fix.

I need to be sure because there is one i'm bidding on, on Ebay and the seller hasn't responded to my question yet. Does anyone have a pic of a '83 ATC 200E Big Red front fork assembly? Maybe i can compare the ebay pics to a real pic. The ATC that needs the fork is currently 300 miles away so i can't compare it myself.

somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the only change in the front forks from the 82 200 big red to 83 on up was the improvement on the fork lowers where they went to aluminum from steel and they improved the fork seal design to reduce water intake into the fork. the steering neck did not change except for the bearing style. I think the bearings changed from loose ball style to the angled roller bearings that fit in a housing but you can interchange them by swapping the bearing seats to the type you're using. I've had 3 different from ends on my 82 200 big red. It was a b!tch getting the bottom roller bearings off the steering shaft from the original but as long as you don't lose the ball bearings when you drop the upper from the head (hold a pan under the upper to catch the bearings!) the 185 uses ball bearings and my 200 had the roller style but everything else should interchange,(except the wheel and hub from 185 to 200)

I need to know if there is a difference between the front ends of an '83 ATC 200e and an "84 ATC 200es. Can't really afford to spend money and find i have the wrong part.

Yes they are the same. They have the same part number from Honda. All you have to do is go to a Honda parts site like hondaparts-direct.com and compare the part numbers. I swapped an 83 200e front end onto an 82 200e. I also replaced the ball bearings with an AllBalls roller bearing kit.
