I did not know they made a 200 Moto 4. I have a 225 Moto 4 and according to the manual it takes 2.2 quarts of either 10-30 or 10-40 depending on the temperature. I have used Penzoil in mine since I got it. On mine, again according to the manual, you do not change the filter, you simply remove it, clean and reinstall.

I'll be darned, never saw a 200, I thought the YFM225 was the smallest made. No, I meant the oil filter. According to the manual, you remove it, clean it and reinstall. On mine, it is not a "cartridge" type, but is rather inside the engine case. To be honest, I do not do much in the way of maintenance on mine. I just changed oil in it for the first time in three years, don't fool with the air filter much either. Of course I don't ride it much anymore, but can't stand to get rid of it. I have been using a Rhino, 700 Polaris and now 700 Grizzly 700 EPS and only using mine as a spare. I got it in 1989 and have never had it in the shop, but of course when I used it regularly I did maintain it well; very reliable little machine.

I figured out the exact model its a yfm200dx moto 4 shaft reverse. the DX was made in 87,88 and 89. but the 87 was an dxt and the 88 was an dxu and the 89 was dxw. I wonder what the differenses were. anyone know where I can get a repair manual from?

I thought they all had the 229cc motor, some where called 200 others where called 225 my 88 was called a 250 but it had the 229cc motor as well.

There is a difference in the two motors. I guess if yours is an 88, that is when the designation changed as my brother has a Yamaha Timberwolf 250 with the 229 cc engine while my 87 Moto 4 YFM225 has the 223 cc engine. I don't know what difference there is in the engines or transmissions other than his does not have the dual-range transmission like mine and is a mono-shock I believe; don't remember the year model, but it was somewhere in the 90's.
