I've been checking a few of the websites mentioned in my first post as places worth checking out for ATV accessories. I think that now I'm more confused than when I started. I would like to buy a winch for general recovery use if needed and also to raise and lower the plow that I intend to put on the front of my quad. Warn's name and reputation are impeccable, but is the Polaris winch any good? My dealer told me that Warn makes the Polaris branded winch for Polaris, but I don't know if that's correct. The Polaris winch does seem to have some nice features like the all weather cable which I would think to be nice, particularly for use with a plow. I don't want to do any cutting and splicing so I want something designed for Polaris, so I'm going to go with either the Warn RT30 (marked with Polaris' insignia) or either of the Polaris winches, as I'm looking for something pretty much "plug and play". What do you guys think? Also, is it worth the extra bucks for a 3000 pound winch over a 2500 pound winch? I figure a little extra beef couldn't hurt as the Polaris is a heavy bike. Thanks to all for your advice.

 

I would get the Warn, versus the polaris, from what i've heard
also I think you should consider the XT with the synthetic winch rope
I've heard good things about KFI mount plates

 

I'm with 700 sportsman....also, the synthetic rope won't break like cable when you plow as the continuous up and down is hard on the steel cable. I know so many people that have had a warn winch for decades.....DECADES! They can still get parts if need be. If you can afford the best, buy the best. If not, keep reminding yourself how much money you saved while you take the long, cold walk back to the truck! LOL!

 

it simple, buy 1 warn or 3 cheapies..i have shackled my self to tress and pulled out jeep wranglers on 33" tires more than once..i would DEPEND on anything less

 

You should be fine with the 2500lb winch, but if you want the 3000lb then go for it. Not really needed...IMO.

I have had three warn winches...all of which were junk and lasted less than 6 months. My friends have had superwinch, venom....all junk. I currently have the polaris winch that came on my 800 deluxe....it has also been replaced once. I will never buy another winch. I my polaris one dies out of warranty I will get the manual lift for my plow!

 

Working for Jeep I can tell you I have seen every winch in the bussiness and can honstly say stick with Warn or a Ramsey you cant go wrong. I have had my 2500 winch on my Popo and use it to Commercialy plow for four seasons now and has yet to give me any problems. Guess I got my $69.00 worth out of it when I bought my quad new! And yes I would look at the synthetic roap as well that is some trick stuff the ony negitive is is the length compared to cable.

 

I have the stock Polaris warn winch on my 700lb tank and it does the trick,but when its time to replace it I would get the 2.5 at least.
