we might buy a kawasaki lakota 300 for about 1000 and it has some aftermarket parts like a pipe and powder coated framse but are they good bikes? they dependable and everything? im trying to find a good starter bike for my girlfriend.

 

Semi-auto 5 speed w/ air cooled right? Maintain well and it will last forever.

 

I have one & I love it. Great bike, decent power. Very reliable.

 

My wife had the 2000 or 2001, what ever the first year for the sport was......it runs like a top to this day. We gave it to our nephew but it is still at our house because the trails are at the end of my street. It's not a rocket as you might have guessed but it will throw roost nicely with razr2's on the back. If it still has stock tires you will want to change them because they are <u>horrible</u> tires for mud or wet clay.

 

I have one that I've owned for a couple years, put some Razrs on the back this year and it really brought the torque up. Its great on the trails, suspension isnt bad, good power for a 300. I've never had problems with overheating, and I'm usually on the trails all day, fields, rig roads.

 

yes, the lakota 300 is a great quad but its twin the mojave 250 is even a better quad. they are not much different other than the wiring, suspensions, and the travel. the mojave has better suspensions, and travel than the lakota. but all in all the lakota is a great quad just like the mojave if you are interested in the mojave too.

reliable yes fun no my friend has one and its been through a beating the shocks are even worse than a stock warriors

 

One I bought in 1996 still runs like new. Has had lots of hard use. Never repaired anything.

 

O have a 95 Lakota. Not the most power in stock form but a CWR big bore kit a little porting and CWR cam livened mine up a bunch. The bottom end is built heavier than a sherman tank and can take just about anything you can put in it. As a matter of fact if you do all you can to it you can have your fiance tie a tow rope to your machine and really make your Yamaha fast [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
