hey, i am looking into buying a 93 suzuki quadsport, i don't know much about these quads but for its size does it a bit of power, i am saying like compaing to 250ex or a blaster etc... I know some of them are manual clutch and some auto, would this model year be auto? I haven'w went to look at the quad yet but it looks pretty clean for the year on the internet, i really like the looks of these quads, lost my chance on one just like it 2 years ago and really regret not getting it. This ones a liitle pricier but looks in better shape. what are the bigger problems with these quads, thanks for any info you can get me guys.

 

i love these little things, as long as you dont go with a big bore kit they are super reliable. the major thing thats wrong with these are the swing arm bearings, if the chain is to tight they wear extremely fast and then the chain will fly off smashing the engine. this is easily preventable if you regularly check for swing arm play, i check everyother ride. as for power it;ll blow away somthing like a 250ex or ltz250, but ive never run with a blaster before

 

yha ive herd about the back bearing problems before, but this one has recently had new ones installed, but how often should i check the chain? I have never had a chain driven atv, ive only had a 125cc dirt bike for about a month and barely drove it. On these bikes how do you tighten it up? i can't wait to buy this man i am so happy i found one in decent shape, but it sucks since i have to wait a week, with my luck the guy just had to be gone on vacation lol. he wants 1200 for it its a 93, any idea if its manual clutch, id reallly like it more if it was lol

 

they made both auto and manualt clutch all years, if its a 93 it should be a 250cc. post up a pic and i should be able to ID it better. anyway i check the chain everyride, tightening is easy jack up the back loosen the carrier bolts and tight the adjusters.

I'm relatively new to the Suzuki's, but that looks like an '85 or '86 230 if it has the proper headlight on it.

Side note for comparison, the 250EX is 229cc just like the LT230.

 

thats an auto clutch. if there was a picture showing the carrier id be able to say for sure what year it is. i'd hold out and wait for a 230S thats a 230E

 

is their any other difference between the 230s and the 230e exept for manual clutch? Will they both still perform the same way as in power or handling? Id like a manual clutch but its not the end of the world if i don't have one. On another page it says its a 93, i am pretty sure it is, i almost baught one the exact same a thew years ago it also was a 93 with auto cluch

 

performance wont be exaclty the same, but it should be close, the "E" model has electric start too. you could always find a blown 230s motor rebuild it and stick it in

 

one of them has kickstart too aye>?
