Explorer 250 questions
I am looking for the wiring diagram for a 2000 Explorer 250 4X4. I want to wire a winch switch so the power to the switch is only on when the key is in the "on" position.
I also have been reading the forum and have read about counterbalance oil. I bought the machine used and it didn't come with an owner's manual. I have been to the Polaris websited and they don't have the downloadable manual for this machine. Can someone fill me in on this counterbalance oil.
Finally, is there a way to test my oil pump. I keep checking the oil tank and it doesn't look like much oil is being consumed (seems like a very small mount). Is there a way to make sure the pump is injecting oil and working correctly?
Thanks for the help

was a yamaha mechanic, just check wires on key assembly for power with the key in the on position, dont remember which color the wire is on a polaris, attach your wire there. oil pump if you look at oil pump, on the lever the cable pulls up you will find markings for the oil pump settings just adjust cable to align the markings. i cant remember procedure for testin the pump but if you can smell the 2 stroke oil in the exhaust you know your gettin some, but if your not she will wreck top end in a hurry.

I don't have a wire diagram, but I can help with the other questions. Your 250 does not have a counter balancer so you don't need to worry about that. Only the 400 two strokes have a servicable counter balancer. Here is a link to a "how to" on adjusting the injector pump. Just a note on the pump. They do not use very much oil, but it's a good idea to make sure it's within specs every once in a while.
