Default Power steering on grizzly 700, Worth it or not

Anyone recommend power steering, is it worth the extra money? Any known problems with it. Never thought a 4 wheeler would need power steering, but my wife and kid will be riding it some, so I am considering getting a grizzly with this option. What does everybody think?

I got mine with out and do not see any need. This is my first ATV and I plow with it and play and have had no problems. In my humble opinion it is just something to go wrong, dont get me wrong Im sure Yamaha did their homework but I just dont see any need. If you need it your on to big of an ATV.

The power steering on the Grizzly is a great feature. It improves terrainability on extreme terrain. Not that you couldn't make it through without power steering, but you can do everything easier with it. I suppose it also depends on how hard you are pushing yourself, or your ATV as well. I did the entire 01 trail loop of the Paiute ATV Trail System in Utah in one day, as a solo ride on my Grizzly 700 last summer. That was a 275 mile long ride in one day, solo, and a good portion of it was on steep rocky switchback ATV width trails. The ride started at 5 AM and finished at 6 PM, and was non-stop with the exception of three fuel stops. I spoke with numerous other ATV riders along the way, and they all said pretty much the same thing when they heard how far I had gone that day. Namely, that they would never even try it on their ATV, whether it was Polaris Sportsman, or any other brand.

I had had three Grizzly 660s before this Grizzly 700, and never really thought too much of the power steering option either. That was until I had spent some time on the Grizzly 700 with power steering, and then swapped rides with someone else and rode their ATV for a while. The last time was when my father wanted to ride my Grizzly 700, so we switched rides and I rode his Brute Force 650. I quickly decided that steering and handling in general without power steering is really pretty bad. I couldn't wait to get back on my Grizzly again, because it was just so much better to ride.

My Grizzly 700 now has 1080 miles and 64 hours = 16.9 mph
The wife's Grizzly 700 has 874 miles and 90 hours = 9.7 mph

Her's has the snow plow mounted on it because she doesn't take it trail riding as much, especially when there is snow on the ground. Mine just gets used for playing around, and doesn't have to earn its keep. We haven't had any problems with the power steering on either of our Grizzly 700s.

I thought power steering was just an expensive unneeded gimmick. Then I rode a Grizzly that had it and became sold on it. It is great. Getting back on a regular ATV after riding one with power steering is kinda disappointing.

Hopefully other manufacturers will soon be adding it. I'm looking at you Polaris.

Basically, you're an absolute fool if you buy a grizzly 700 without the power steering. It's the best thing put on a quad since 4wd... it's not a requirement... Just like power steering in a small car... but man is it worth it...

I bought one since I had shoulder surgery from falling at work. It is amazing, my buddy has a 700 raptor and my steering is eaiser then his in my opinion. The biggest selling point for me.
