Anyone know about this........
4 wheeler will not shift in ESP or D1 and d2, (seems like it's stuck in one of the gears)
magnet in control motor busted so we replaced this with a new one but problem above still exists.
when you first turn the key on, the screen is solid but flashes none stop after starting
backfires and spits and sputters when trying to back up.
does anyone know how to tell me how to diagnose and fix these problems.
PLEASE and thank you!

I had to reset mine just yeasterday. I have the post about the 2001 Rubicon with shifting problems. I went to page 34 on the Honda post and followed the steps described in the post Rubicon with no drive. The only thing is when you do the steps don't have to much hesitation between each step or it thinks you are just pushing the up and down keys. I had to do it 3 times to make mine work because I would do a step-read-do a step. So just do it fairly fast. Good luck and Im glad I was able to return the favor to someone else

When you go to atvconnections home page you will see a list on the left side of the page. Find the catagory that says atvconnections. Click on that, When that page opens up scroll down the list till you see the folder with Honda marked beside it. Open that up. You will see a list of post including yours. Just scroll down to the bottom and you wii see page numbers. Just click to that page. You will have to hit next rather than the >> 's because that will take you to like page 239 or something like that. The post you are looking for has proubly moved to page 35, because as the post add it moves it on the page. If my memory serves me right you hold down the up and down arrows at the same time. Turn the key on. ( You do not start the motor) Let off the arrows then quickly hit the up then the down arrow(one at a time) Then open the trottle up all the way with a fast push. You should hear the shifter motor engage, and it should work. Like I said try the steps fairly fast because if you do it to slow the machine thinks you are just pushing the arrows. Good luck!

Hi
I've been having the same problem on my 2001 . Was told to order a new angle sensor. That that was my problem. Didn't receive it yet.Does anyone know where the angle sensor is located on the bike. As soon as I get the part I will let you know if it solved my problem.Actually just baught the bike put on a winch and then my problem started. Go figure.

Same beast ... same problem.
Although I've now invested a bit more than just an angle sensor.
A new CDI (ECM), Shift motor & she still goes "limp" every once in awhile.
I was getting a code 9 ... The it went to a code 11 after a new ECM ... Then I started blowing 30-amp ECM fuses which led me to a burnt shift motor armature.
As of today ... She basicly runs well but now goes into the limp mode every once in awhile. Simply shutting her off & turning it back on clears the code & I'm off once more.
Pretty aggravating ......
When the warm weather starts, I'll be cleaning all of my electrical connections, resealing with dielectric grease.
If that doesn't cure it ....... She's going right off a cliff!
