Default 250 Recon ES Shifting Problem

My 2003 Recon ES will shift into reverse great when cold. However, after riding it will not shift into reverse. Once it cools off, it will shift correctly. Any suggestions?????

Fluids fine.
Getting code 11 when RPM's get high. Cleaned all contacts without success. Have ordered speed sensor. Hopefully, that will help with codes and reverse problem also.

Yes, the speed sensor is what is throwing the code. Sounds like it is telling the ECM by resistance that the unit is moving, not allowing it be put into reverse.

Thanks Gimpster!!!!!!!
It will be next weekend before I get the sensor and get it in. I'll let you know if this solves my problems.

Just a heads up though, rear of the engine there is a plate covering the reverse cable pivot. Under that cover is a reverse switch also. Just for kicks you should try grounding the wire going to the sender when the issue is occoring. The switch may still be bad. It does need the speed sensor though. I have had a number of speed sensor failures on recons and it causes all kinds of driveability problems one wouldn't think is affiliated to it
