I was driving my 2003 recon 250 topped out on a dirt road, and something started to clank around inside of the engine and it just kept getting worse. Now when i start it it does the same thing. hard to keep idling. i think that it is inside the front crankcase, but not sure.. HELP!!!!! thanx

well, i dont know what to say. maybe your clutch fell apart, maybe your connecting rod bearing went out, it's hard to say, you'll just have to take stuff apart to find out.

 

Tell you what buddy, Let me save you some money. The problem with this motor is engineering. If it runs and shifts fine and just makes noise like a tapping. Its your timing chain guides. They are metal coated with rubber. once you wear them out or heat your engine up to high and wear them off prematurely. They start slapping metal against metal which makes the tapping noise. They help keep the timing chain on and one keeps the tesion on the chain which the big rubber tip probably broke off or melted. Good Luck with it!!!

 

i took it to my dealer and they said that the crankshaft is broken. now the engine is out and i'm waiting to take it apart
