04-05 Yamaha Raptor 50
Everyone says that the 50 is a learning stage quad and that is true. The problem is that a 50 Suzuki and a e-ton or any other machine will do 20 miles an hour and a top dollar raptor 50 does 12 mph. That is sad and so I see no reason why someone wouldn't modify this quad to at least stay close to the other 50's. I am sad to see how slow this quad is. Not only do you pay top dolllar for this machine but you need to buy a aftermarket cdi box just to get a decient top speed. Yamaha should have just let the parent be the judge of how fast we want the machine to go. Now we have to pay 100+ for the cdi box and 250+ for the exhaust just to get the thing to move as fast as a cheaper e-ton or any other normal 50. I think that is BS and Yamaha should warn people of this before you purchase it. I know there are some people who made a big enough stink, that they ended up taking the quad back. You pay top dollar for something, so you should get what you paid for. What should I expect to get on the top end with the procom cdi box and the slider in the carb opened all the way? I hope by doing these two things, I will get it to 20 mph. That is all I am looking for. Not asking a lot here and of course I wouldn't do this if my son wasn't a smart, good, well rounded little rider. Also, if I put the bigger tires on it down the rode, what will I see on the top end? What size tire and rims are we talking about? Thanks!
