Default How to set timing chain

I replaced rings on a yamoto 150. Before i disassembled the head i marked the timing chain and gear so i would know where the proper placement would be but the marks got wiped off and now im lost.I played with it for a while but only managed to get a sputter out of it.Is there an easy way to figure out where the piston should be in relationship to the valves?

Piston at TDC and the valves fully closed. But I feel you need to find out the exact placement.

I have only had my valve cover off to set the valves once. I wish I could remember what I saw in there. Could you pull the valve cover off your other 150 and see. Like LT80 said the piston needs to be at TDC and the valves closed. Lobes of the cam facing out. Now that I think about it, there is a mark on the flywheel to tell you the piston is at TDC. If you dont get it by friday I'll take my wifes apart again and look inside if you want.

There is a mark on the flywheel to tell tdc but the marks on the timing chain gear r not marked.there could be 2 ways to set it up. there is a manufacturers mark on 1 side and a big hole on the other but not sure which to us when piston is at tdc. I did pull the cover off the other 150 but darn thing still wont start, hope i didnt bend a valve

Now that you say that I remember thinking. Where is a mark on the timing gear. I hope you didnt bend a valve either. Where did you get rings and how much did they cost?
