Default Lakota Smoking need help

What's up, I have a 02 lakota sport 300 and it recently started to smoke on start up and then it goes away when it is warm, i'm thinking it is my rings, but it runs fine, start's on the first push. I can change the rings (the rings are cheap) but I would like to know if that will stop the smoking or could there be a hidden problem somewhere else that I don't know about. I want to make it last till winter then i'm going to overhaul the entire bike, any help would be great, also i'm pretty sure i can fit a mojove engine on a lakota right ?? (would that be a good idea)

well it could be somthing simple like rings or valve seals but on the other hand it could also need a whole new piston/valves/bore and maby other parts too, pritty much you wont know untill you tear it appart. Do a compression check, a healthy broken-in engine should be around 150-160. THe engine mounts for the mojave and lakota are diffirent so no the mojave engine wont fit with out modification and you will need to make radiator mounts too, i'd say its definatly not worth it
