Default 400 scrambler ( NO SPARK )

Well I am getting back from the long Holiday weekend (No nearly long enough)
On my (GET ONE LAST RIDE IN BEFORE WE GO HOME ) I was lucky enough to have to be towed back to the truck. It just died on me about an hour 1/2 in to my ride, no warning just blaaaaaw, done, that was all she wrote.
I know this much, I have NO SPARK
I have verified that the problem is not the following:
Plug
Wire
CDI
Coil
I was able to check each of these ( By swaping with my other 400 )
I know they are all good, I am guessing I need to ck the magneto? Any other Ideas or known problems. Please help as I am planning on goig riding this weekend?

I would have to guess that it must be one of three things since you ruled out the others. 1. the Exciter coil, 2. The Stator (both magneto parts) or 3. A wiring issue somewhere between the magneto and the plug. It would be heaven sent if it was a bad plug wire. I think If it were me I'd follow all the wires from the magneto and at each connection unplug and clean the contacts with a small round file for the female ends and some sand paper for the males. then put it back together with a little dielectric greese. Maybe you'll get lucky and won't have to pull the engine apart to get to the magneto guts. Good luck sir I wish you well.

I had a similar problem about a year ago with my scrambler. I was losing all electrical though and I tore into all kinds of stuff under that nose cover trying to chase wiring and it ended up being the plug that goes into the kill switch wasn't snapped in all of the way.

I never use that switch and on more than one occasion, I have let someone else ride it and they turn the engine off that way. Next thing you know I can't get it started for some mysterious reason.

I haven't had the problem you have, with it just dying, but if it was me it would probably be something stupid like that.

Before you get to far into ripping things apart , check the primary coil (Polaris may call it an exciter - I forget ) You can check this coil with an ohm meter right at the CDI plug in . I am not near my manual , I can't recall wire color , but this is a very likely failure . I sell 2 or 3 a year , they cost only about $45 .

Please excuse my l;ack of details , I am not near a manual and am kinda wore out - I just got out of work .

Thanks guy.

Rick, I won't be able to check much until tomorrow after work. If someone has the opportunity to let me know what wires I need to check and what the results should be on the ohm meter, I would sure appreciate it.
If this "exciter" is the problem I hope you have one in stock Rick, becuse I will be calling you for one.

HELP
I need to check the primary coil (Polaris may call it an exciter )

If someone has the opportunity to let me know what wires to check and see what the results should be on the ohm meter, I would sure appreciate it.

With some great assistance from Rick Ritter, we were able to find the problem.

Rick hit the problem right on the nose. It is the primary coil.
If someone in the future looses spark this was an easy check
Unplug the 3 prong plug under your hood going in to your CDI box.
It should have a black wire, Brown wire, and a white wire
Check for resistance with the Black with a red stripe wire and the Brown wire.(on the chassis harness
Im my case I had an Open loop.
