Default oil change for '04 250

This is a dumb ? but before I mess it all up better ask... Where is the oil filter for changing oil on my 2004 AC250. I asked the dealer and he explained it so think I have it figured out but he didn't have one left in stock to show exactly where so if any of you can explain it again then I would have it in writing......TIA for any help txJoe

Ok man unless the oil filter has moved between the years of my 03 and your 04 it should be on the right side if the engineright behind the back tire and it is circlar cover with three screws around and one in the middle, take the three screws off and the plate will come off in there is the oil filter and yes oil will start to come out so have a pan underneath. In case you needa visual look at my picturesi will show you where it is. They are probally pending approval, but the will be up soon.... I'm in need of an oil change also......thanks for reminding me...

Be sure you put the o-ring back in when you pull filter out, sometimes it will stick to filter.

Thank You so very much for the info. It is very helpful and FAStCAT7806 the pictures did the trick. This is the first ATV we've owned and may have to ask more silly questions before we get through. We have figured out how to ride and have fun
again thanks everyone for the replies and ride safe!!! txjoe

Aight, I have an oil related question...Does everyone use Arctic Cat brand oil or do you just use Quaker State, Pennzoil, etc? Just wondering, I have an oil change coming up and I just wanted to see what the rest of you guy use.

All the filters I've bought have new o-rings with them.

lownrangr, I opted for Hondaline synthetic oil because the local Cat dealer didn't have any in stock. Great. Ya just gotta be sure it's the right oil. Some is for motors with wet clutches and some for dry. The dealer will know. And I opted for the synthetic because it seems I heard that it doesn't break down like regular oil at high temps. Here in Nevada, we get really high temps during the summer and our 400's are air cooled. If the air is over 100, we're not getting a lot of cooling except for the fan. Michigan is more humid than hot, I'd guess. I grew up in Chicago and it was humid as hell there, and sometimes pretty hot too.
