Octane additive in 2-stroke?-WARNING
I usually run super unleaded 92-94 octane gas in my Scrammy (Trail pipe etc..) but when I just use regular I put a octane booster additive in. The problem being, I seen on the label of one brand to NOT use in 2 stroke motors. Now is this all octane additives or just that brand? Will it hurt my 400cc 2-stroke?

I also use 92 octane from the pumps, and sometimes use "boost" or "stp110" fuel boosters.......I think they are just giving a general warning. I know these products I listed can be used. I suppose that a 2 stroke burns hotter and revs higher, causing them to warn the customer that too much octane booster will probably cause a meltdown(in other words, you can't run the stuff strait).
I know you can run vp fuels, like the 110 stuff, in 2strokes, because I've done that before.

If you REALLY NEED higher octane, you MUST use a booster formulated for 2 stroke use. Regular octane boosters, formulated for 4 stroke use, do not allow all three liquids (gas, oil, booster) to mix properly resulting in an over lean condition and ultra high combustion chamber temps.
Unless it's specifically made for 2 stroke use...... DO NOT USE IT!!!!
(Out of curiosity.... Why are you using octane boosters? Head work? High compression? Advanced ignition? Or does it "just run better"? The reason I ask is that I have a "BUILT" Yamaha triple (Outboard motor) 14.5:1 compression, worked over heads, advanced ignition, triple exhaust tuners....... And it runs just fine on pump mid grade gas, 89 to 90 octane.... I tried 92 octane once and proceeded to foul the plugs in a heart beat. What is the comp ratio in a 2 stroke Scrambler anyway?)

I have never found an octane booster that added more power or decreased *pinging* .
I have mixed racing fuel with premium gas and had good results with that . Although I have been told by chemists with more knowledge than I that this is not a good idea .

Octane additive in 2-stroke?-WARNING
It's an automotive octane booster and I only put the recommended amount in. With my mods HPD recommends 92 octane on the installation paperwork. I haven't had any problems yet and it runs good. I haven't seen any recommended for 2 or 4 stroke but again its automotive, I need to check the stuff at the MX store. Although with Ricks post I'll probable just run the pump premium fuel from now on.
