Wolverine with 25" Mud Lites, Need Input
Folks here is the deal. In two weeks i am going to Colorado for the 7th year to ride. I have been there on a Blaster (piped) and Warrior(geared low with pipe and motor work). Now i am taking a 2000 wolverine. The tires on it now are shot and I am wanting to mount tires on the STOCK WHEELS. I am mostly worried about putting larger tires on this machine, as it is stock.
The rotational inertia will increase with the larger tires. Although, ITP claims the ML's are light weight. How true is this? They do not make 23"ers that will fit on the stock wheels. Also I am requiring at least 6ply ratings. This fact alone limits the selection of tires.
We currently have a 95 wolverine with 23's and a white brothers pipe on it. This 2000 in stock form makes just as much power as the worn out 95 piped.
How much power will be robbed with 25's on a stock wolverine? I will also be hauling about 20 lbs of gear with me (165lbs).
Should I hold out with the stock 23's and get the nickname "Plug" from holding up progress everytime I slice the weak tires? Let me know ASAP so I can place an order.

Where can I locate and order the titans? RM ATV does not have them. Wherever i order from MUST BE QUICK!
How much do 25's kill the poor 350? Keep in mind, as of now it is all going to be 1st or 2nd gear up long climbs, over rocks. Getting over the rocks is why i wish to get 25's, but dont want to have no juice and have to do a lot of gear pops.
Also, what main jet does a stock 2000 wolvy have? Is the needle jet changeable with that dang vaccum operated deal?
Thanks in advance, I am needing info Fast...

In order from cheapest to most expensive. The XTs have gotten great reviews and I will definitely be getting these when my stock tires wear down. They come in 23s, 24s, and 25s, I will probably get the 24s because it seems like a good compromise. Plus I heard that the 23s are a little shorter than the stock 23s anyway. I am looking forward to these tires, if you get these let us know what you think of them.

I picked up the 25x8x12 and 25x11x12 Titan 489XT. These tires are GREAT. The accually height is 24" and the stocker accual height was 23". They do not look to big on the factory wheels either and work well with the factory off-set.
On solid pavement these tires ride smoooth. They handle well on soft and loose dirt. Also climb well over rocks and what not. These tires seem to work well in the mud as well. Have not submerged the machine yet though....
The stock wolverine has plenty of power to turn them. I had to pull an old Kawi Bayou home the other day and I had no problems pulling him up the steep inclines.
I purchased these tires from a local tire shop. My local shop and Nebraska tire both told me they do not make a 24" back tire in the XT.
I will ask this agian. What is the wolverines stock main jet size. I have to jet this machine for 11,000ft... now i am in KS 1,100ft...

Blaster, glad to hear you are happy with your tires. How much power loss did you notice? Also, I am pretty sure they do make these tires in a 24x9x12 and a 24x11x12 for the back depending on how wide someone wants to go. I have been doing some research on actual tire heights to determine my next tire size. Thanks for the followup on your tires, it convinces me even more about the XT's.

I did not notic much power loss. As I stated above, I was able to pull a Bayou along the trails and up very steep hills. I had the power, but the tires were spinning.
The real test for these tires start next mondy. On Sunday we are headed out to Colorado to ride. I cant wait!
These tires are agressive but too not wild. I really like the closer tread design, this will help keep rocks from punchuring the tires, allong with the 6ply. They were not to heavy either. Just a little heavier than stock.
I would deffinatly go for the 25"ers. They look very nice and also are very functionable.
BTW- I am running 6 psi in the tires.
