whats the value of an 83 Honda 250r
hey all, new guy here. just joined the forums as i have just finally aquired a "toy".
i picked up a 1983 Honda 250r 3 wheeler. its got Maier rear plastics, and a slip on exhaust, other than that its mostly stock. it runs goo. it was recently bored to clean up the cylinder and has a Weisco piston in it. it breaks up a little bit when you get into the throttle a bit. i have been adjusting the needle height in the carb and its getting better. definately alot of power. it didnt come with a title but i know whose owned it for the past 7 years.
i picked it up as described for $500, but i know its worth more than that. what would you guys pay for what ive described?
im looking at selling it and getting something with 4 wheels. i have a chance to trade a guy even for a 1996 300ex with a fresh top end, dura-blue xtended axle, stage 1 kit pipe and jets. no title though, but its gonna mainly be on private land anyways.
i ve got reservations about getting a 300 though because ive been riding friends 440exs and z 400s for the past year or so and cant see myself getting anything any smaller then those. i think id get bored to quick. although then theres the 98 banshee around the corner form my house i looked at this morning. i like the reliability of a 4 stroke but wouldnt mind messin with a 2 stroke either. but damn the 250r is a cool *** lookin bike. hmmm, decisions decisions.
what do you guys think would be a fair asking price for the 3 wheeler if i decided to off it??
thanks in advace for the input.

To tell you the truth, the air cooled 250r are not the "hot item" but people love them. A grand should not be out of the question, and you should be able to turn it pretty easy at that price. To tell you the truth, If you are looking for a 4 wheeler than I would jump on the 300ex for the trade! Heck his rear axle cost almost what you payed for the trike! Ride the 300ex until you can get another trade. You will be able to sell the 300ex faster and for more money that the trike anyway.
I am with you on the 4 stroke.....I will someday have a 2 stroker, but it is going to have to be a darn good deal first, and there will be a 4 stroke in the garage too. Hope my 2 cents helps

Well if you were watching ebay over the winter, the 83-84 250r's were selling for a low at 1000.00 and a high of 1500.00, I could'nt believe the prices that they were going for. I did a restore job on mine this last winter and was emailing with about 10 other guys doing the same. they are a pretty good bike forr the money. go to 3wheelerworld.com and check out the forums, do a search on aircooleds. Enjoy your trike.

They just arent hot here I guess. There was a guy down here trying to sell two of them, both running, one with a pipe, and both had good tires and plastic. It took him 4 months to get $500 for both of them. I was looking for a 85-86 then and I did not buy them.
